From a sheer mintage standpoint, it's the likeliest candidate as 1889 was the highest mintage of any Morgan save the 1921's. The trouble is unless the presence or absence of a mint mark can be definitively shown, it's of no use as a Lowball. You know what intrigues me most about this coin? The clear - and very recent - bagmark above the forehead. That means this coin was circulated to its' current state of wear, and then bagged with a bunch of other Morgans. It is undoubtedly a member of a "hoard," and undoubtedly original circulation, not some artificial pocket piece. Report this Post to the Staff
