The back is obviously worn but I cannot decipher what this coin is. I've tried my research but after an hour I gave up. Can you help me please? Report this Post to the Staff

I believe it's a copper solidus (or schilling) from the Lithuanian half of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, from the mid-1600s. Something like this example from a Vcoins seller. Because they "look Roman", they're often found mixed up with Late Roman Bronzes in unidentified uncleaned coin lots. echizento Moderator United States 23731 Posts	Posted 02/06/2014 8:24 pm Soak the coin in either distilled water or olive oil from a few weeks, I prefer olive oil. You might be able to remove some deposits, but I don't think it will make that much of a difference. Report this Post to the Staff
