Hello all! I have this 1916 Mercury dime that looks to have a faint 'D' mintmark? What do you folks think? Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty confident with no "D" was ever minted on that coin for a mintmark.

1916 D Mercury dime is the key to the series.

I see what you are looking at, but I am no expert.

So I am curious what the experts will say

I'm no expert but I think it's just a mark on the coin. Hopefully for you I'm wrong.
Rest in Peace

The fourth photo looks like part of the top half of a D.
Interesting!

Not D. Compare your coin with this one.

Definitely not a D. Sorry. All of the 1916-D mintmark positions are high so even a well worn coin would show at least some of the mintmark. I once had a 1916-S that was well worn and I had myself convinced that is could be a D. That is until I knew better.
