GERMANICVS Pillar of the Community Germany 1849 Posts	Posted 08/07/2014 08:59 am A scarce civil war date - only few were minted and many said to have been sent abroad in specie payments abroad to fund the cost of the war. My example of this coin has unfortunately been dipped and I suspect also wiped as some lines are visible. I would probably not buy this coin nowadays. Still, it is in good condition and a witness to a momentous time in american history. Report this Post to the Staff

Although cleaned, this is still an appealing coin showing no obvious/harsh cleaning lines. I may subject it to the 'years-on-the window sill' treatment to see what it looks like after a few years.
