I changed my mind. Here is the grade of the coin MS-63 with a green CAC sticker. Both of which are seriously wrong. This piece is a virtual match to the 1903 PCGS MS-66 CAC I bought from the same nationally known dealer. CAC should have put a gold sticker on the coin. I am very seriously thinking of cracking it out and resubmitting it raw since both NGC and PCGS will only bump up a coin's grade one point if sent in for a regrade.

The dealer, in my opinion, could have priced this coin much higher than he did based on the coin and not what was on the label. An 1889-S Morgan dollar in MS-65 is worth over $2,000.00 and I got it for not much more than MS-63 money.

The pictures seem a little soft so I'll bet there are truly more marks on the face than it appears . I'll go 64.

MS-64 is fair for this coin. I'm not seeing MS-65 or 66

Very nice 63. 64 would be fair. It wouldn't go higher since it looks dipped and stripped, then retoned. The luster appears exceptionally weak. A 65 or 66 Morgan will have great luster.

A flat two dimensional picture makes it so hard to grade. I guessed MS 63 in the poll. Without being able to move the coin at different angles we are handicapped as a grader. The comment about the luster is so right on.

For those of you who "think" you know what luster looks like it is extremely difficult to capture it in a photograph on every coin. The following is the description of the coin by a nationally known and well respected coin dealer. I have purchased several coins from him and all met or exceeded my expectations upon receiving each piece.

The comment about the luster is so right OFF. If this coin were dipped, stripped, then re-toned NGC would have given this coin a details grade.

Bold Luster, Under graded, Pristine NGC Fatty Holder. A special offering as this Morgan is well under graded and housed in a pristine old NGC fatty holder and approved by CAC. This is an eye catching dollar with creamy centers that migrate to gold/red/blues at the rims. My images are unable to capture the "in hand" beauty of this piece.

Membership got this one right, as did the dealer. Deliciously undergraded at 63. Before you crack, though, have a look at Russ' experience here:
