I recently received hundreds of photos of fake coins from Mike and I must say that I am in disbelief as to how many fakes are actually out there.
I wonder how many more are waiting to be identified out there.

I can't imagine how much time and effort Mike put into this work.

All I can say about the photos that I received is WOW!!

Thanks Mike, I cant put a price on what the group of photos are worth.

DO you know if he provides photos to the collecting public at large? I used to rely on the RCMP website's section on counterfeit coins but the link no longer seems to work.

He puts them on ebay once in a while to fund the research. I need to pick them up sometime too. Fantastic work.

Darn Mike and his counterfeiting photos operation. When will the horror end?!

:)

I picked up a CD from him at the last Coin Expo. The selection of fakes he laid out at the talk was scary.

Mike is back, offering his photos to help the collector identify Canadian counterfeit coins.

SPP or anyone, I'm curious why many of the counterfeits have such a flat gray, an almost pewter appearance in photos and are they more realistic looking in hand?

Only the cheap non-silver ones look like that. I have seen them in .800 silver and they can be pretty good (in a bad way!)...
