I have been back in the hobby for about 3 years now and in general I appreciate and love coins for their individual history and design. This extends to even foreign coins. But today I came to a realization about a coin that I do have because I have admire it for its history. So I go to my local "we buy gold place" and picked up 2 AG condition Morgan dollars so I can start roll of junk silver dollar coins. Well I really didn't look at them closely until I got home and they were faded pretty well and something in my head said I can't keep these they look horrible. Now for my other junk silver rolls of all denominations I have had no problem with their faded appearance so I stared at them for 5 seconds and realized I love this coins design and history and cannot own them unless they were in much better condition and that there is no way I can call them "junk silver"  ever. I returned them back to the store for 2 silver eagles, but it is amazing how certain things hit you at any given moment. So I will begin my quest to collect the dates in this series and try to complete it and yes I know some are very expensive. |

No such thing as junk coins, Some are in better condition than others.

I have quite a few from the melt bucket. They are a challenge to VAM, but I've found a few scarcer ones. I just think of them a ugly children. |

I have a Morgan from the culls at my LCS that I wanted just because Morgans are beautiful and I wanted it as a pocket piece. I admire it all the time, even though it is pretty worn.

Morgan dollars are my most favourite coin It's big bulky a lot of history and lots of silver and it was minted well the 78-04 before the fed was established. Morgans are the pinnacle in coin collecting for me!

With common date Morgans in AU/BU selling at shows for $22-$25, why would anyone buy culls at $18 for silver?
