PCGS Package At Customs And The GST

Eric Valued Member Australia 222 Posts	Posted 04/23/2008 6:59 pm I'm an Aussie dealer, and one of my packages is stuck at customs. Does anyone from Australia know whether I have to pay GST on the coins (which originated from Australia, and this is specified on the box) or whether I should pay GST on the grading fee, or whether I shouldn't pay GST at all. My understanding is that Oz coins are money, or cash ... and as such, neither a good nor a service. Also financial transactions, per se, are not subject to GST, but whether the repatriation of Oz coins is an exempt transaction, I have no idea. As the grading fee was paid outside Oz, I'd be astonished if that was taxable inside Oz. Customs have opened a few of my parcels, but I've never been queried as to GST, excise, duty, etc. Peter in Darwin Report this Post to the Staff
