Mark1959 Pillar of the Community 7234 Posts	Posted 03/29/2017 4:29 pm looks like it was copper plated than nickle(?) plated. Coin only has 3.8% copper in the alloy so copper would never show if it was just wear. Report this Post to the Staff

Altaira Pillar of the Community Canada 2525 Posts	Posted 03/29/2017 4:55 pm Canadian coins are have 3 layers of plating over the steel core. From the innermost, it's nickel, then a layer of copper, then an outer layer of nickel. For yellow coins, the outermost layer is bronze instead of nickel. A couple of years back I made an observation that quarters before and after 2003 has a different sound, I still don't know why. Report this Post to the Staff
