hi

found these coins and wondered if anyone could tell me what they are?

it has a square shape in the center and Chinese writing on one side then on the other what looks like numbers

any help much appreciated

Are you talking about one or two coins? Can you post images of both sides of each and label them some how? like

They are "cash" coins from China. The second image identifies the ruler, in this case Emperor Gao Zong, 1736-1795. The first image is upside down and identifies the mint, in this case Jiangsu.

Is it magnetic?

Genuine examples are excessively common and worth only a few cents each, but yours looks like either a contemporary counterfeit or a quasi-official imitation from southeast Asia. The extremely rough look is usually a sign of the bronze being "cut" by adding a significant amount of iron or other metals.
