1968-S Lincoln Memorial Cent / LMC Curious As To Obverse "waves" - Tilted Die?

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 02/10/2018 2:27 pm The obverse master hub was needing replacement. (A new master hub was created in 1969, the next year) So most of the cents that year run into the rims. On the date and mint mark area, the last digits and mint mark are suffering from a Struck Through Grease on the die when your coin was struck. There is some die wear showing on the 'E' on the reverse of the coin. But everything is pretty much common stuff on your coin. Edited by coop 02/10/2018 2:27 pm Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 02/10/2018 3:40 pm Looking again at the ones over the top of the head, (missed what you were talking about) that is areas where the die was polished down a bit into the deeper devices. When this happens it removes the edge of the design where it meets the field. This abrasion removes enough of the field to now leave a raised area on the coins struck with the die. I see nothing of a premium item for this coin. Pretty much normal with minor die events that happened to it. Report this Post to the Staff
