Sitting down to have Christmas Dinner with family and friends yesterday, one of them, who knows I'm a coin collector, produced this and asked me to identify it. He's had it for about 15 years and bought it in a job lot with some pre-1947 British silver coins. My guess is that it's a tourist token of some kind, designed to resemble a Far Eastern Temple coin, but can anyone be more specific please?

It looks sliver or silver-plated, and about 28mm in diameter.
Thanks!
