1972 Jefferson Nickel Weight 4.6 And 20.51 X 1.39

Minnimarine Pillar of the Community United States 721 Posts	Posted 02/24/2021 12:21 am Just like the title says. Weight 4.6 and 20.51x1.39. It is almost 50yrs old and really cant see the lettering on the coin I also think it's a D mint mark. Can hardly make it out, but that could just be something else looking like a D. You might try making a stack of 2 other nickels on top and bottom with this one in the center to show the difference is thickness? Just note the stacked coin images. That way if there is a difference, then we could see the thinner coin easier? Report this Post to the Staff

It dont have a dip in the middle or clipped, but nickels dont have clad. Intentional thin for feeding the rollers? I actually just thought I was tossing this into the spend bucket but now I'm reading about tapered and thin planchet. Report this Post to the Staff
