I've been seeing an awful lot of minor lamination errors lately. This one seemed big enough to be a keeper and has a bit of eye appeal so I pulled it.

Very nice TB.
Just curious, what does that coin weigh? The bottom of the lam area seems very smooth and not many perpendicular lam lines. Wondering if it could have been struck through a laminated scrap.

Thanks for the kind comments!

Hey Stoneman, interesting question. The coin weighs in at a full 3.12g, but I ruled out a struck through as just too much of a coincidence. If you look below the 1 of the date there is a peeling bit of lamination sticking up. It is parallel with the big missing spot, and there are a series of parallel allow lines typical of lamination areas across the lower bust. It all just says lamination error to me. If it were struck through, it would have to have come from another coin and landed exactly right on that area to look just like what a lamination should look like on the coin. That and the rim shows lamination lifting from where the bit is missing to the little nub sticking out between the rim and the bust, which is also a lamination bit in mostly parallel.

Weight would tell us if it is a lamination or a struck through debris scrap. I wondered it is was a greasy string issue? (because of the lack of definite of a hard outer lines of a lamination)

Really nice lam on that one. (Not sure about a strike through)

Very cool find! I'm in the Lamination camp. I can't see this being a strike through with the parallel alloy lines on the bust and the lamination on the date. I believe your assessment is correct.
