I remember when these first appeared - you got them at the gas station whenever your dad stopped to gas up the Buick. Free with a purchase over $5 or something. There was a wooden plaque that you could get too - every PM from MacDonald to Trudeau the first. I had them all....

I find it weirdly humorous that they're now selling on ebay....

I worked at a Shell station back the day , when these came out ( 1969/70 ) .
Five dollars got you 10.5 gallons (IMPERIAL) of regular gas!
These medallions came in a little sealed White pouch with Red or Yellow
lettering . You never knew which one you would get of the 14 different .
Of the fourteen available , Pierre Trudeau was purposely hard to find .
Short minting so to speak . Shell purposely made it difficult to complete a set .
They wanted you back to try again !
The quality of these pieces was so bad the goldine colour
went away rather quickly , leaving the zinc finish exposed .
You had to send in with proof of purchase and some cash to buy
the wooden plaque.
A pristine complete set in a wooden plaque ..... a most legitimate
collectible !

@PAcificoin - yes! Glad to know I'm not the only person who remembers these things. Also, I note that John A looks a little ghoulish.....

If you look long and hard enough a collector can be found for anything. Years ago when I was still working we had a "most unusual" collectibles contest. One fellow collected Breast Pumps and he did not win the contest!
