the pattern is from a worn die, called a late stage die, it's fairly common during that era

Also, the number eight is a bit wider on the bottom loop due to a hit and circulation flattening. This one would be a spender for me.

First of all, I appreciate the info. So how it blends into the lettering and causing that effect is a frequent occurence? Quick question. What does a spender mean lol. I'm new to this so I'm coinage terms iliterate. Thanks again guys for your help.

Sorry for the jargon. It means I would spend this coin rather than saving it in my collection. Of course the choice to save vs spend is entirely yours. You may feel that this is a fun example of a coin struck from tired dies and keep it.

So from what I understand, since its an error that can continuously occur for the same die, its not a valuable error correct?

No added value and not an error. It is a common die event.
