His one-cent varieties look to be selling very well at the RCNA auction.

The 1881 SSN was the star and went for $5,500 CAD, plus $1,072.50 in juice, and likely another $825 in GST. $7,400 CAD for a PCGS VF-30. It is a very scarce coin and has been largely underestimated by both Trends ($1,500) and Numicanada/Coinsandcanada (about $650) for a long time.

I bid early on it but dropped out way before the end.

Also, the 1893 TP9 in PCGS in 63 Brown went for $3,500 CAD ($4,707). The 1858 FV in AU-53 went for $1,500 CAD ($2,018). Strong prices IMO.

Wow, Rob. Didn't I sell you one (not that grade) for substantially less? I just think that Canadian Vicky cents are appreciated much more now, when we all started posing scarcities 25 years ago. I forgot to say in my post that I got a very fair/good price for the one that I sold to Rob. And I agree that demands for scarce Vicky cents have greatly appreciated in the last 10/15 years.

And I'll bet demand was torched off by when the 5/6 of us wrote the Vicky variety section for large cents in the back of the Charlton 65th edition.

Bill, yes, I bought a raw one from you ten years ago for less. Given the lesser demand for it at that time, it was a very fair price. During those ten years, I think demand for them has skyrocketed with almost no increase in supply, or at least in problem-free examples that would make it into a PCGS holder.

Thank you bosox, for the early bid and the congrats. I did do very well on most of the large cents I entered in the auction. The one that really shocked me was lot # 500 I didn't think that many people knew of it 1882 with extra denticles from first part of Victoria - CAN in Canada went for $1,314.00 with taxes and commissions in AU-55. That coin I bought from okiecoiner

Conversely, I think your 1882-H TDO should have gone higher. Problem free examples are very, very scarce.
