Hi guys, is there anyway to find out if a coin I have is gold without paying for it too be tested....I found a 'Dove of peace' £2 coin in my change from a shop a few years ago and iv had it hidden away since then, but now id like to know whats it worth

Hello, and welcome to the forum.
The base metal for 1995 £2 was nickel-brass which is golden in appearance. The only gold pieces were issued as proofs in cases and cased proof sets. It is highly unlikely someone cracked a proof case to use it as a change, although not impossible. But, I believe, the coin should bear some kind of remnants of being proof. If it doesn't look a (former) proof then it's just a base metal.

thanks for the advise, still think I'm lucky to find it in my change and I think I might keep hold of it for abit longer...unless its worth something now of cause
