That is in fact a British half penny or farthing (only a measurement of the diameter of the coin will determine the difference) of George the first. The date looks corroded, but I think that it is 1724(?).

By the looks of the obverse legend it's a halfpenny (in the farthing the two words are spread more apart). As for the date, I can't really make it out. I believe this is "obverse 3" which would be consistent with Archraz's suggestion of 1724.

The collar on it reminds me more of a farthing, but I guess the size will let us know one way or the other
