rjkingston Pillar of the Community United States 642 Posts	Posted 03/29/2011 6:55 pm Can I get opinions on whether this is original luster? Also, what might cause the blotchy dark toning? Is this from a botched cleaning? The whole coin has a gold tint to it that is flooded out in this photo. Grading opinions welcome also. Thanks NEW PHOTOS, hopefully these are more in focus... And I'd guess (emphasis on guess) MS-63FH? I'm not sure what causes that sort of toning around the edges (though I've seen it on other coins). Report this Post to the Staff

mshev Valued Member United States 312 Posts	Posted 03/29/2011 9:20 pm I'm not really seeing the wear (minus a few small marks - the most prominent being on the reverse to the right of the eagle). The head/breast/shield all look very complete. Wish the pics were a little more clear though. edit: The mark to the right of the eagle isn't catching the light any more in the new photos - but it wasn't significant. johnny54321 Rest in Peace United States 4849 Posts	Posted 03/30/2011 12:16 am I agree with Mshev at MS-63. I can make out full luster in the fields, and plenty on the devices as well. The "blotches" look like natural toning to me, and attractive at that. A lovely type example there! I see no indications of cleaning or otherwise alterations, but would need to see it in hand to be sure. Report this Post to the Staff
