No Idea What This Is. Please Help Id.

Jayson Valued Member Canada 55 Posts	Posted 09/16/2011 3:52 pm I have no idea what this coin is. I don't even know if I have the picture right side up. Only half the coin seems to have been struck so I don't know if it's part of the design of if it's an off-strike. It's about 16.5mm. It doesn't look like any coin I've seen before, so any help would be great. Report this Post to the Staff

Actually, I may be just trying to see something, but it appears to me that there may be a Crusader's shield on the right-hand image. Of course, I'm trying to see something. Anything identifiable. Just a quick search on ebay for Ottoman coins turns up literally hundreds of examples that look similar to the one I have. Right down to the characteristic dotting and flattened halves. This is just one example: Of course, I haven't found the exact coin I have (with the dot in the middle of the dotted V triangle thing) but I'm surely on the right path now. I guess my original hunch of this being Islamic was not far off. Anyone agree or object to this being Ottoman? Report this Post to the Staff
