That's really all I can decern though. Kefiroth Pillar of the Community United States 1431 Posts	Posted 12/18/2011 3:51 pm By matching the symbols on the coin with a list of Japanese Kanji characters on Wikipedia, then copy/pasting them into Google translate, I found out that this is a Japanese 5 Yen coin from 1948. The obverse says "5 Yen", the top of the reverse says "Japan", and the bottom says the date. Report this Post to the Staff

It's a shame they didn't keep this design for the 5 yen. I think it looks better than the "tap washer" they've used since.
