CP--anyone ever told you you look like John Larroquete?

Nope. People used to tell me I resembled Dana Carvey of SNL fame.....

An officer with the Detroit State Police? That makes you somewhat of a hero in my estimation. Your forum name seems quite appropriate.

I am eight weeks from retirement. After nearly 53 years in the workforce, I could do with a bit of a temporary rest. However, I will continue to physically demand of myself to remain actively healthy. I am paranoid about rusting away!

I am seriously considering rejoining the workforce after about a year off. Perhaps employment as a car detailer would be fine. I would much rather be paid to exercise, than to pay for it. Nevertheless, my retirement income, which is automatically inflation adjusted, would be more than double what a car detailer could earn in full time work. I would just help my kids with their mortgages, with the excess cash that I would earn.

I would very much like you to get to where you want to in retirement, in 18 months time. Like me, I think you have earned it. Just don't go too far south, where the climate can be TOO hot and steamy.

I reckon San Diego, climate wise, is the best place to live in the U.S.

sel - I'm no hero, that's for sure. We are going to look at mountain property in southeatern TN next month...on the western edge of the Smoky Mountains. If we don't build there, we will likely go to SW Florida to be near the "kids". I lived in Sunnyvale for almost three years as a kid - no offense, but California's crazy gun laws are a big turn-off for me. I generaly carry a 45 auto everywhere I go, which is why I drive most everywhere I go. For some reason, those pesky TSA fellas get really upset when I try to take all my guns onto an airliner.

I enjoyed reading that, thank you ;-)
I only hope I can have a son like that one day.

This is high praise, indeed. I can tell you, it hasn't always been easy. The youngest must've inherited my wild side, and there were many sleepless nights when I wondered to myself if I had done a good enough job of raising these kids. Apparently, we did.
