Notice the distribution pattern of the last 7 bullion pucks:
Homestead = 35,000
Kisatchie = 42,000
Blue Ridge Parkway = 45,000
Bombay Hook = 45,000
Saratoga = 45,000
Shawnee = 105,000
Cumberland Gap = 75,000
Harpers Ferry = ? ? ?
Now that the presales are going on for Harpers Ferry, my guess is C-Gap bullion sales from the Mint to the APs are done. There's probably some leftovers/holdovers that the Mint are holding on to as the C-Gap issue has NOT been declared a sellout. The prediction is they'll make way less for the remaining three issues of the year. The sweet spot for puck bullion is around 60-70K, but wouldn't be surprised if they cut back for 45,000 for all three, which means they may be caught by unawares by the surging interest of the TR puck. Just a thought.

My guess is that Harper's Ferry will be around 40k and TR will be higher.

I'm waiting for Bay Precious Medals to put them on sale. They've had great prices. Great design imo.

Good pricing from bay precious metals, but they treat them strictly as bullion. The C-Gap puck I got from them was manhandled badly, fingerprints all over the reverse. You would think the owner could invest in nitrile gloves or the even the cheap cotton ones to preserve the easily marred surfaces of the bullion pucks, but that seems to be too much trouble. If I had paid melt I would've have cared, but the finger marked coin had the typical $17 premium, so I doubt I'd buy from him again. Sticking with SDB or JMB henceforth.

Thanks for the warning. I received a 2015 ASE from them that looked fine when I got it, but soon developed an odd band of toning on the reverse. Also a spot developed on the obverse. Clearly they are not making an effort to avoid contamination. Regarding gloves, are nitrile gloves preferable to cotton gloves? I just want to do everything I can to avoid contaminating my coins when I have to handle them. |

Powderless nitrile gloves are perfectly fine. I use them when I need to dip coins as to not impart finger oils on fresh surfaces

Ordered an extra Cumb Gap P puck and it came yesterday. This is my first puck with significant issues. Reverse has multiple rusty spots with the biggest being nearly the size of a dime. The obverse has three major gouges right on George's face and also multiple smaller spots. The gouges could NOT be missed if anyone actually looked at the coin before packaging. Going back....  |

They shipped it in an Air-Tite which I thought was rather pointless by then with all of the greasy fingerprints. Required some gentle TLC to restore the pristine surfaces. Swabbed the the prints lightly with alcohol and that seemed to do the trick.
Your question about the gloves is a good one. I tend to favor the nitrile over the cotton. The nitriles are single use, medical grade used by nurses and other medical practicitioners. They have a good gripping surface for coins and don't leave chalky residue from latex or lint from cotton. Some recyclers will take nitrile and recycle them, so I like the green aspect. They're way cheaper than cotton gloves, and a single use box of 100 will probably last longer than than the life of 3 or 4 pairs of cotton gloves. I've seen coin dealers use cotton gloves until the tips were black and that only leaves contaminants on later coins handled. Cotton gloves are washable 5 or 6 times, though as they degrade in the washer they seem to get lintier and lintier. Ideally the best reusable/washable/breathable gloves would be made of silk or linen, but I've been to lazy to have them made since the nitrile are super convenient when I need to handle a coin. Hope that helps.

Shawnee = 17,339 C-Gap = 16,590 Fits in with the figure of the last three 2015-Ps, all around the 17.5K mark. If this is true, C-Gap has less than a month to go, they've been selling around 200-300 a week. So keep your eyes peeled, the pared down Mint hates inventory to languish on shelves for years upon years, except for specialty commemoratives they order way too many of. (Gold Kennedy half, anyone?) |

Only down 15 to 83 left. Looks like the over saturation of the bullion is putting the pucks on the outs again. Keep careful tabs on the remaining three bullion/unc. Mint tends to go risk adverse on products not selling well or not hitting their forcasted sales.

71 left now of Shawnee. If it were to go off sale the mintage figure would be in line with the last three of 2015; i.e. it is a possibility the US Mint won't mint more. But, it's still early in the year. Hence the possibility is strong another batch of maybe 3-5k will be minted.
