congrats dan yet again you find something amazing what a great price for the War Nickels wish I could find them close to a buck a piece

Nice deal, a pawn shop is not the easiest place to buy silver under spot.

There was a pawn store here which was the only place I could find back in the day who would service a mechanical watch without sending it offsite.

The owner was in a wheel chair and he did all of the work himself and we talked briefly about watches etc.

It turns out that my mother worked with his cousin.

I found a master watchmaker who was also a fan of the brand I collected with an interest in preserving them and keeping them as close to original as possible but open to my ideas of custom modifying and building one off creations or in the coin word "patterns".

He built a few "first" ideas for me which many have copied in this day of the internet.

Anywho I went in there last fall and talked to one of his employees (as he always seemed to be working the title loan cash advance counter) and asked if they buy silver coins. He said yes. I asked if they sold silver coins as I was looking to buy some at hopefully a deal and he said no.

I guess they were on the lookout for key dates etc.

Anyways I heard bad news a few months later that Scott (the owner and watchman in the wheelchair) had passed and the business and building had been sold.

A few months later the building was being remodeled and had a sing up that said Pawn USA which I guess was a franchise vs. the locally owned and operated business that it had been in the past.

I have been wanting to stop in since it reopened but haven't had the time.

I guess I better hurry up while silver is down especially since the store is on a bus route direct from the hood.
