Grading A Coin With A Slight Obverse Misalignment

I would say no, since MS-70 means a perfect coin. A coin can't be perfect, if the dies were misaligned to make the rim be imperfect. Which is true for all error coins. And what about variety coins? Is a variety coin considered perfect? Like an RPM? I would say no, since the person striking the hammer didn't hit it correctly to make a perfect mintmark. But what about other varieties, like the Wide AM? Report this Post to the Staff

Also an error is something wrong with the coin in the first place. I dont think a variety would keep the coin from reaching MS70 though since the variety is on the die its a part of it. In reality we will never see a variety coin or error coin in MS70. Report this Post to the Staff
