Hello all, it has been awhile since I have posted my spending the Pres. and Sacs. But I will say around $1000 in this last year alone. Spent on varies snacks,beer,swapmeet hunts,conserts, and to the kids for chores done. Minus the 3 poss Satin/Rainbow toned 2005 P Sacs. And the wildest coin so far a 1979 D SBA that has no copper ring showing on the rim, that I recently found. I took it to Ontario, Ca coin show this weekend and it even stumped the error expert there. He suggested I send it in to get it authenticated. So hopefully it does come back authentic. $66,192 to go. |

Back from Florida - my experience is as follows: December 11: 4 Sacagawea $1 coins in Miami metro machines to buy train tickets December 12: 1 Pres $1 coin as tip to guide in Hemingway's House in Key West. At first he thought I'd given him a foreign coin! December 14: 2 Kennedy halves in Walgreens, Miami Downtown, in part payment for a Hersheys candy bar. The guy at the cash register looked at the coins as if they were from Outer Space. I said "these are half-dollars". He scrutinised them again and accepted them! $66,186 to go. Incidentally on December 11 I may have seen another CCF member! I was on the afternoon Greyhound bus from Miami to Key West and the driver made a half-hour stop at a Burger King at Islamorada. The person ahead of me in the queue tendered two $1 coins to pay for a drink - the cashier asked her supervisor if it was OK to take them - she asked "Are these dollars or a new type of quarter?" The boss said they were OK and the girl put them in the till. When it was my turn to pay I asked for the two $1 coins in change! Edited by NumisRob

As best as I could remember to keep track since my last post:
11/19: $2.50 Sacagaweas and a half
12/3: $5 Sacagaweas swapped with someone using a five for the parking kiosk
12/6: $2 pres for afternoon coffee, $2 goldens at lunch
12/9: $4 goldens at lunch
12/11: $1 Sacagawea at lunch
12/12: $2 NA Sacagawea and a bicen half at a lunch date of sorts, and two more bicen halves in a kettle on the way there.
12/16: A pres and two bicen halves at lunch, $2.50 pres and a bicen half for a club soda as I got gas on the way home.
$24 spent

This is an awesome idea, I've been trying to use more dollar coins in my day to day spending and now seeing this thread I can help contribute to the total. For the last 9+ month I typically get 2 rolls each paycheck (bi-weekly).
this past week has been
$10 goldens for breakfast
$3 goldens for snacks
$13 Spent
