I do spend half dollars and dollar coins that obviously are not worth saving the problem is if you take the American public as a whole and not divided by sections . . . the public as whole has historically not supported a dollar coin. We'd still have a circulating half dollar but JFK getting shot and then getting put on the half dollar in 1964 and then LBJ taking the silver out of our money well that killed it as a circulating coin.

Spent $3.50 in halves at Burger King for lunch. The cashier tried to give me $4 back in cash because she thought they were dollar coins.

Last Monday, I used $7 in dollar coins to help pay a bill and leave a tip at a restaurant. I overheard the waitress ask if any of her co-workers wanted some dollar coins, so I'm glad she took notice of them. Today, I spent $8 in dollar coins to acquire a 2013 Mount Rushmore quarter at a coin show, and a 1903 Barber dime for my cousin, who is building a 20th Century Type Folder. The dealer I bought the dime from called them "Good ol' Presidential dollars," and I noted that I threw in an SBA for the heck of it. This is a total of $15 in dollar coins. $64,332 to go.
