I realize the strikes this year were especially strong, but is there any chance this is a circulated Proof? I've read rims perpendicular to the face is a tell-tale sign. Thoughts anyone?

If it was, to late now. As with any proof, once gone through circulation, most get really messed up. Sorry I couln't tell if that ever was one.

I would expect to see some traces of a mirror finish in the recesses, and I don't see an unusually strong strike or anything out of the ordinary for a Merc of that grade..

Even a proof with that level of wear should still have traces of brilliant polished surfaces in the protected areas but I do not see any reflectivity. Also, I see some peripheral die flow which would be indicative of a business strike.

The rims look too rounded over to me rather than the square shelf-like edge found on proofs.
