The star caught my eye as I was about to feed this into the self-checkout machine. There's a slight bit of loss just below the Y in FIFTY. I'd enjoy telling family and friends about the time I put a $50 bill up for auction but only if it would be worth the effort. Do we feel it's too worn to exceed face?

I know nothing about paper money, but If I were you, I would keep it as a show piece.

It was circulated yes. It is only face value a this point. In maybe 100 years it might be worth 70, but other then that, no. I would spend it.

I would spend it because the SN is high and the condition is low, and besides...it's a fifty.

The printage is 3.2 million, which is the 2nd highest printage for that series for all branches. There were only 4 branches that printed star notes though.

Too bad it has quite a bit of wear down the center like that and it looks like someone wrote 450 on the right hand, obverse, so that hurts the value too.

I don't think it is worth it to save, but still a pretty cool find.

If it was a $1 or a $5, I would keep it, but $50 is too much for me to keep
