Paleo I gotta agree with Jeff. That looks like the same kind of green goop that was on a 38D Walker I bought. Qtip and acetone and it came right off. Definitely give it a shot.

While we are waiting for more 1820 photo posts, I thought I would ask you Large Cent collectors how you house your collections. I have mine in a Littleton LCA36 album. It is a one coin per date except 1793 (3 types) and 1796 (2 types). I may switch to a Dansco once I get most of these holes filled.

Mine's in a Whitman Classic 9110. I started with the Dansco and got to the final nine or so coins and threw up my hands. There are slots in there that don't even exit (something in the late thirties I believe). Anyway, the Dansco has variety holes AS WELL AS mint errors. I think there were five varieties for the 1939 (maybe four they called for).... I have seen no other album (cept maybe the 1922 No "D" penny in the Dansco) that gets that "trivial" or "comprehensive" (pick a perspective). Anyway, I went with the Whitman for the one coin per year concept and sold the rest I had amassed on The Bay. You want a Dansco - I got yer Dansco - right here!!. Send postage.. lol PG

Soaked the 1820 in pure acetone and worked with a Qtip - No joy.... I might try a BadThad Juice (aka Verdicare) and see if that has any effect. PG

Put her under a microscope and the surfaces in question are the uncorroded areas of the reverse. Evidently something next to the coin protected just those areas. PG

paleo, weird. Try the verdis care and see what happens. Regardless, tis a nice coin.
My large cents are in 2x2s and one in an air tight. Not sure why that one in particuler went into an air tight, but its there.

Quote: one that's a bit more difficult to snag... Yes, low mintage and difficult to find a good one. Mine was probably used to pop off bottle caps. 1821 N-21
