I doubt when the program was started they thought people would buy a hundred at a time either.

It seems that policy has changed so that you can't buy as many as you want.

It looks like they are strictly enforcing the limit. My rep won't let me order more than 3 of the new $100 Orcas.

Sure, you can make it to Silver MC tier by buying mostly x for x coins but to reach higher tiers just buying these coins is much more difficult.

All the coins issued by RCM are legal tender for the face value amount on the coin. Read their FAQ section.

It's not as simple as that and there's good reason this thread is so long. Nowhere in RCM's FAQ section does it guarantee cashing or spending of non-circulating legal tender collector coin.

Agreed. You have to find a willing banking institution to take the time to deal with RCM to accept XX dollars.

I do see RCM limiting the purchase of XX dollars to regulate people who find the loopholes to take advantage of other bonuses within.

I agree. It will be interesting to see if the limits also result in decreased mintage.

These coins are legal tender. Banks have been accepting them. So many have been turned in, in fact, that new limits have been put in place as to the number you can order. Also, I believe the $100 and $200 coins for this year have been cancelled.

The $200 coin that was released last has been listed as sold out on the RCM website as well, so come July 1st, it will be harder to maintain mc status for some members.

It will still be relatively easy to maintain MC Silver status ($1000) by buying lower value x for x coins. Buy the max allowed and buy a few other coins and you will still be MC.

But it will be much harder to maintain Platinum ($2000) with mainly x for x coins. And impossible to maintain Platinum Plus ($5000) without buying a lot of NCLT coins.

Aren't some specific PO started to add the RCM coin purchase towards MC status? And looks like PO have no limit on XforX coins.
So...it is still a nice way to get MC level without spending a dollar (buy via PO, add the purchase to MC account, deposit the coins at the bank)...

POs sell X for X for approximately 1.30 times X. For example, the current $20 for $20 is $25.95 at the PO. 30% is quite a hit to take just to get MC status.

I deposited $3000+ NCLT coins into my TD bank account months ago with no hassle.

Went back to same branch few days ago and confirmed again NCLT coins are still welcome in that branch.

Totally forgot about it, thanks CC-Ottawa, for correcting.

@ moneypenney

If you track your order on the RCM website, you will see that for the $100 for $100 FV series starting with the Orca shows that there was to be another $100 for $100 issued in October. It was to be the "Elk". It now shows as "cancelled" on my subscription series. My rep said that if they bring it back, he will re-order the 3 for me. I highly doubt that they will bring these back.

I believe that the RCM is getting away from the large face value coins. No $200 for $200 this year (which were to be 2 of them) and then they cancel the last $100 for $100 that was to be issued.

So, one must consider: "Will these last issues of the 8 $100 FV series and the 3 $200 FV series go up in value or would it be wise to cash them all in now?"

Should be no difference between these and any other series discontinued by RCM.
The 200for200 nicely designed and there are only 3 of them...but these coins doesn't have low mintage to be rare or special.

$200 for $200. Mintage 20,000 Towering Forests

$200 for $200. Mintage 25,000 Rugged Mountains

$200 for $200. Mintage 25,000 Coastal Waters

Something to ponder.
