1917 "sawhorse" Legal Tender Note

dinhjames Valued Member United States 72 Posts	Posted 09/18/2012 12:34 am Hi Everybody, I just joined the forum and would like to say "Hi" to everybody. I just picked up this note and have some concern with it. The paper quality is in perfect condition for 95 years old bill. The paper has "blue and red rag" particle in it. My only concern is the "blue and red rag" particle is stick out from the edge of the note. Is it something usual? I think I need to send it in for grading. The note is almost uncirculate. I'm just the beginner to collecting old note. Please let me know your thought. Thanks. Report this Post to the Staff

I think the red and blue fibers sticking out is more of a curiosity than an error if that is what you are asking. I think it's pretty cool so don't trim them! Once when I was a kid I found a note with a very small corner fold over so there was an extra amount of paper on one corner. I took a pair of scissors and trimmed it to make it normal. Knowing what I know now I obviously wish I hadn't done that Report this Post to the Staff

But the fact that it has the fibers sticking out of the paper would seem to go a long way towards showing it is real I would think. Report this Post to the Staff
wquinn Pillar of the Community United States 2295 Posts	Posted 09/18/2012 10:39 am Having the fibers stick out, helps confirm it is real, but taking it to a dealer, is your best bet for authenticity, if they deal with old paper money.
