I picked up this 1855 Halfpenny yesterday. Not a scarce date but a decent upgrade for me:

A packet arrived from a recent auction today, so four interesting GB pieces to share! 1677 Charles II sixpence, 1693 William and Mary sixpence, 1693 William and Mary shilling, 1720/17 George I Halfcrown:

Nice additions, PaddyB! I find the William & Mary silver reverse with the 'WM' monogram between the crossed shields and the split date strangely attractive.

I agree Rob, the William and Mary reverse with the interlocking W and M is my favourite of all GB designs. When I was young we lived in a village that had a long brick wall built in that reign. It had the W and M motif picked out in black bricks against red along the whole length. When I last visited, half of it had been demolished to give access to a school!

Nice pickups, Paddy! I too am partial to that WM piece...and your mention of the brick wall reminds me that the college they chartered here in the US in 1693 has a famous brick wall too.
