Thanks, guys! I agree that medal is a winner...almost looks as though it could pass for gold (on eBay), doesn't it?
Rob, I'm dating myself here, but my school's entire 7th and 8th grades went on this field trip...a total zoo for the grown-ups. You wouldn't have enjoyed it at all.
The good news is that by then I already had my first Conder, a Liverpool ship token, and I've been collecting British/Colonial tokens and coins ever since! (My siblings always liked to blame my hobby on a chromosomal defect...but they do give me credit now for taking the customary 10-15 years off for the required drugs, sex, and rock 'n' roll distraction phases.)

Just a flamboyantly toned silver shilling token from London -- issuer unknown -- that circulated 1811-12, which was prime time in Britain for the use of necessity coinage. This piece features the famous equestrian statue of Charles I, which had been (and is still) located at Charing Cross since 1675, backed by the arms of London on the reverse.Middlesex, Dalton 6, PCGS MS63.

Been quiet for too long in UK coins, so I will post this minor upgrade I picked up last week: 1752 Halfpenny Not the greatest coin ever, but a little better than the previous incumbent, which has now gone to another collector.
