Picked up this 1891 Halfpenny, F364, as an upgrade today. Not a rare date or variety, but a nice coin for its age:

Very nice halfpenny, PaddyB. I think the Victorian Bun Head halfpennies are very under-appreciated: everyone prefers the pennies! The halfpennies circulated very heavily and weren't saved in great numbers, and even trying to get a full date set from 1860 to 1894 in nice Fine condition is quite difficult.

Lovely Halfpenny, PaddyB!

Yes @NumisRob, the halfpennies are rather underrated in the market place. It does mean they can still be picked up relatively cheaply. Over the years I have built up a full date run in Good Fine or better, with quite a few varieties as well. Maybe one day the market will catch up and I will make a fortune selling them!

Great new silver crown, Rob, and it put me in mind of a medal I have with the same Lion/Eagle cooperation-togetherness theme, also a crown but in heavy brass -- "Tombac," I believe. Mine was "custom struck" before my very eyes at The Royal Mint's exhibit at the New York Coliseum where I was visiting on an end-of-the-year field trip with my entire class from school. As I recall, I was the only kid who actually bought one of the legal tender 5/- crowns that was also struck for (but not *at*) the Expo. Pretty sure I still have that, too. For anyone wondering what such extravaganzas were all about, it was mainly commerce, as shown on the originall handbill, Note the entry for "Rare Stamps and Coins." I wonder which dealers I chatted with on that day 64 years ago? ...

That's beautiful, daltonista! I've got the crown but my parents never took me in my diapers across the Atlantic to visit the Exhibition!
