It also looks like the words are doubled on "5 cents"...

i see some doubling for sure,,not sure if that is a die chip.

Its a large gouge forsure, but...
The pics below show the best doubling...more so above the letters, not just beside...

It looks like a strike through, grease maybe. If it were a die chip it would be a raised bump. I don't see the doubling.

Its a pretty deep gouge....

So if a die chip is raised, what would this fall under?

Possibly a lamination (or delamination) error.

i believe your right about being lamination,actualy this is a 2012 major brock 25 cents but it looks a lot like your nickel
