Your diagram of the different doublings makes sense to me, but is it still true (I'm assuming) that Machine Doubling occurs at the mint, and is not OMD that someone adds after the fact? It may be silly, but when I hear " Machine Doubling", I picture a machinist modifying the date to make a coin appear to be doubled :P
I cannot take credit for the image. It is Chuck D's drawing. Yes it is done at the mint. I just wanted to point out the difference between Die Doubling and random Strike Doubling which is a normal occurrence in the minting process.
