I was looking through Buffalo nickels today at the local coin show and I found a 1921 with 2 feathers G-VG. Dealer wouldn't sell it to me because he probably thought I was cherrying something valuable. What would you say the coin was worth?

TIA

Harvey

I can't believe the dealer wouldn't sell you the coin...what is the point of his business.

Either way, 2 feather buffalos supposedly carry approximately 15-20% premiums over the same coin without the abraded die issue. I have attempted to advertise some 2-feather buffalos in the past and have never been able to get anyone to pay me anything extra for them.

There is a small market for them, but it is very hard to find such a buyer.

A P-minted 1921 2 feather in only G-VG I wouldn't even attempt to put up for sale on ebay. My guess is it would sell for $1.50-$2 if I made a real auction. There would always be the possibility of two bidders going head to head and it somehow goes for $10, but I wouldn't want to lose money the other 9/10 times shipping it, so I wouldn't even try and sell it...it would go into my bulk bin.

Thanks For the reply.

I'm glad to hear that I didn't lose anything by not buying it. Dealer had it marked $2 and I offered him $1. First time a dealer ever refused to sell me a coin and I know all of the local dealers well....

No use in chasing 2 feather nickels if I can't profit from cherrypicking them.
Rest in Peace

If he's concerned about being cherrypicked, why does he have anything for sale?

I saw the dealer and the coin today at the local coin show. It was still there with a price tag of $2

I decided not to buy it.

I might change my mind if I see it again at the next show in a few weeks...

I probably will see the dealer and the coin this coming weekend at the local coin show. I might just pick it up for $2, but then again I might not....
