Pretty sure it's real. Not listed in Cherrypickers but it's in the Complete Guide to Mercury dimes and in Coneca, RPM-001, the only RPM for 1938-D.

Looks good to me. Just as a by-the-way, I Googled "1938-d Mercury rpm" and this thread was already the #1 result, 4 minutes after you posted it. Google likes CCF.

Holy cow, way to go CCF! That's one of many reasons I love Google :)

Pretty excited to find the one rpm for that date/mm because we only had three 1938-Ds. Lucky.

As mentioned, I finished the rough sort of Mercs. Unfortunately none of the big boys are there. No 16-D, no 42/41. Not even a 21-anything

Consoling myself by looking for minor varieties.

You are doing a great job! Your study on the Indian Head nickel ribbons was great and this study on mint marks is excellent as well.

I enjoy reading your posts especially when you put together your research with your observations.
