I've never seen a half dollar love token either...
Only a quarter, many, many dimes, a few foreigners and a PROOF Morgan dollar.

I see what looks like a "B" "R" & "P", just not sure what order they're supposed to be in.

[I have 3 1870's Seated dime love tokens in my "Not-So-Junk ~ Junk Silver" that I plan on selling whenever spot goes back to the Big 50]

The monogram is "PBR". Somebody lurved their Pabst Blue Ribbon. A fine example of protohipster chic.

Seriously, this is pretty cool. Agree about the mixed feelings though.

Maybe someone will reply and let us all know how to determine which letters on the love tokens come first, second, and third.

It is most likely PBR. Through the ages and by most traditions, the largest letter in a monogram is the surname and the smaller letters the first and middle given names.

With a personal token such as this, who knows. I still think PBR is most likely the recipient's initials but it could be something more symbolic. For instance, a couple who married in 1824, last name beginning with R, with P and B the initials of each person's first name, letters intertwined to represent the union. Just idle speculation though :)
