Quote: Something tells me a ~$800 cherry won't hurt him too bad given the caliber of coins he has available. Yeah but he isn't going to like it very much, I bet someone is going to get a little talk on his staff for not seeing this. He has a lot of real high dollar coins and $800.00 coin isn't anything to him but I am still sure he will take precautions to try to make sure it doesn't happen again, because if a potential $800.00 walked out with every coin (even though I know this isn't the case) they would soon be closing the doors

FadeToBlack, doesn't matter. You can take my advice or leave it, but your list of friends will grow real short if you brag about picks on internet forums, from internet sellers nonetheless. Unclassy, in my opinion.

Rick snow and plenty of others cherrypick and brag and still seem to have friends and are respected...

Unclassy, in my opinion. Who cares, his due diligence and discerning eye found this coin. Kudo's to him and hope it all works out in the end. Would love to see the new coffin when it comes back....

I read this pronouncement a little different than some of you. I didn't really see the bragging... I saw a guy who saw something that others missed and he's understandably excited about it. I don't know if I would find myself posting my joy in quite the same way, but I completely understand his excitement. Isn't this kind of passion the exact reason we love coin collecting...?

Thank you. That's exactly why I shared it. I have picked 3 or 4 other coins since this one and haven't posted about it because it's evident that certain individuals here think that cherrypicking is wrong, or something. I'll share my other recent good pick; a 1942 Walking Lib DDR, check out the doubling on HALF DOLLAR. Tough to find them in MS. This will be the last cherrypick I share on this forum.

Even after I called them and offered to pay $150 for the coin if they pulled the auction and relisted it as a BIN, they still let the auction go through... that should have been a huge red flag that pushed them to take a closer look at the coin. But it didn't, and it sat there and sold for 20%-25% of what it's worth. Quote: Rick snow and plenty of others cherrypick and brag and still seem to have friends and are respected... And coins worth 10x what this one is worth too. Purchased for 1/6th of what I paid for this one. I'll tell ya what, Drsandman2, send me an email and I'll give you my ebay ID so you won't get picked. The coins will just be bought/sold as regular coins until somebody like me comes along and picks you... and if nobody does, oh well, scarce varieties maintain their scarcity rather than becoming 1 coin more common.

I did not see this as an attempt at bragging, rather excitement about a good deal and an attempt to share varieties with all of our members. Now because of this, we all see that you can find DDRs and DDOs in an unattributed slab or in the wild.

Don't you have to pay extra to have the coin attributed a DDR by a TPG ? They won't put it on the slab if you don't ?
