Tell me if I am correct that this is a die gouge at the nostril. Also, any other comments?

It's a die chip.A piece of the die metal broke away due to metal fatigue. Note the irregular edges,a gouge would have a more consistent shape and smother edges.

Thanks DrDon - seems like a large chip - but then my "chip experience" is quite limited. I think the location makes it quite interesting . I know that these kind of things bring only a very small premium to the value - probably $1 or less.

I've seen people call them runny nose on ebay. There don't seem to be any listed right now. I think they are pretty common though.
