here is a 1994P, with sort of a "feathering" feature on the right side of several colums and several letters (at least IRCA) of america. in the colums they are basically in a NW - SE slant. and on the letters they are basicall W-E. they are in bays 5,6,7 and 8, and to the right of the statue. am I looking at Die Deterioration, die abrasion, or is this somethig else going on here. thanks.

Looks like die scratches for a die polishing. If they were lathe lines they would be circular to the outside diameter rim. But they are not flowing in that direction.

comparing this coin to your images - I dont think these are lathe lines. I really dont know what they are - though.

Looks like a guy at the mint had a heavy hand when he was polishing that die. I think coop is spot an as per usual :)

I would be interested to know too. I have a 1972 LMC with similar markings on the number 2.
