I spend half dollars almost every day-- the usual reaction is no big deal but once in awhile you get a teenager who doesn't know and the manager has to inform them there are more than 4 types of coins

i got a '96 half dollar in change from tito's tacos in los angeles in Summer 2013. that is the only time I can ever remember getting one in change ever. then, I spent a different '96 half dollar at a pizza place and the cashier asked if I was sure I wanted to spend it (?). as for dollar coins, when I pay with them there is never any reaction.

There have been a number of us on this forum trying to spend dollar coins and half dollars for a while. Please post your spending of these coins on this link:

We would love to have as many people as possible contributing to our efforts. I love to spend all of the "odd money" (2 dollar bills, dollar coins, half dollars), both to educate the public and to see peoples reactions. It is fun.
