Up close it kinda looks like a 56 but from a distance it looks like a 51 to me.

Looks like a 6 to me too, turn that 9 upside down and it would fit right in nicely..

That has to be a pre 55. There were no "S" mints struck in 1956.

It is a Struck Through Grease error on a very worn out die. They over used them till they DIED. LOL
