Cuba, 40 centavos, 1962

Think 40 centavos is a weird denomination? So did the Cubans... it existed as a silver coin under the First Republic, but (after this issue) was never seen again under the Communists.

What to think about 320 reis in 19th century Brazil?
http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces36201.html
You could equally find 640 reis if you prefer...
http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces36207.html
and even 960, (not to make it 1000 !)

Hope to see somebody posting these pics when the time is there!

I'm happy to snatch these beautiful, under-appreciated coins from the melt tubs anytime they show up.

I do the same thing. It is nice to get quality coins like these for melt.

I am pretty sure I will be posting several in the next couple weeks.

Capturing toning is extremely difficult, you have to see this beauty in hand.

Sorry, I'm updating from work and if people post coins that source the image offsite they won't show up and in the last post there was no mention of the year.

I have a feeling that coin looks great in hand. For me it is
really hard getting a picture to show how nice a coin looks. Most of my pictures make them look worse.
