Hi! It's been awhile since I bought anything fun and shiny. I was at the LCS picking up the last of the National Parks quarters and on a whim took this one home with me for $30.
The diameter is about 41 mm (slightly oblong 41.3 mm at the widest, 40.6 mm at the narrowest), weighs in at 26.5 g and using pi x r^2 x h come up with a specific density of ~9.9.
Due to the edge wear, I can't seem to find any overlapping so am hoping you folks can let me know if this is a genuine piece of 8 or not.
The edge shots start at 12 and go to 1:30, 3, 4:30...and so on
FWIW I'm guessing it is a fake counterfeit based on what I'm reading here and being only $30.

If the S.G. is 9.9 accurate, it must not be genuine. But do you measure it correct? Other than that I have no idea it is fake.

Potosí was a "special" ceca (mint) with different final subproducts (coins)...but I think this is a fake

Meh, oh well. Guess that's bound to happen when you buy on a whim with no knowledge before hand. I debated about going back and asking to return it. But the history behind it is rather interesting so I'll just hang on to it.
Thank for the replies!
