Your specimen looks as though it could be white metal, an alloy of lead,tin, zinc and other metals.

Found it using the link above I discovered this info:


HK 118 WASHINGTON-GRANT DOLLAR - 1876

The ribbon on the left shows Washington's name and the ribbon on the right shows Grant's name.

The two I saw in the Heritage Auction archives both had the hole like yours.

Maybe someone more familiar with So-Called Dollars can give you more info.
