pepactonius, I noticed the two natives on the reverse were each missing half an arm and then I saw the big sword. It is very strange that they would have them cut off and hang them on the flag pole. Aside from that, I like the reverse design anyway. (sorry, I couldn't resist)

I thought I had run out of coins with ships to post (that have not been posted already), but I found another in my collection. Here is 1 baht from Thailand, 1977:

1992 Columbus quincenttenary uncirculated commemorative half dollar. This could have gone in latest US coin purchase, post your commemoratives, but I'll post it here under sailing ships and I bought this today in the cello and in the box in honor of Christopher Columbus. I happened to grow up thinking of him and the sailors of The Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria as brave explorers and that he discovered America or "The New World" in 1492. and I still doI have crossed the Atlantic and sailed the Mediterranean Sea in the US Navy and cannot begin to imagine those small wooden ships on those immense waves and stormy waters, relying on wind and early navigation by the stars. I also think the clad half dollar would have been a much better design choice for the quincenttenary commemorative silver dollar. I prefer this clad over that dollar.

Those sailing on it must be very tiny sailors.
